Real-time Warning Smart Care Services-Origin Wireless
- Category:Smart Healthcare
Status:Complete If disabled people suffer falls in care institutions, they may become even more bedridden and disabled, further accelerating the degradation of their physical functions and adding burden on the manpower of the institutions. In order to provide disabled residents with a safe, healthy, and comfortable living environment, the Department of Social Welfare has cooperated with the industry operator to build a smart care system to provide residents with a caring environment that uses detection and warning reminders without having them wear devices and caregivers are able to provide immediate and comprehensive care services. Disabled residents in institutions often move around in their rooms. However, leaving their beds, chairs, or wheelchairs or using the toilet may occasionally lead to falls. At nighttime, caregivers do not check them as often, as they do not want to disturb their sleep. If an accident occurs during the night shift and is not taken care of immediately, the consequences may be disastrous. This project is a collaboration with Origin Wireless to install Wi-Fi-based motion detection equipment at Da-Long Care Center. The equipment detects the moments of falling, such as being tripped by something, slipping, falling from bed, etc., as alert signals. Sudden and severe falling are within the scope of the detection. However, the equipment is unable to detect slow falls caused by dizziness. Applying this technology in the living environment of cases under care to detect their falling, so that care personnel can quickly respond to falling incidents.
