The Department of Information Technology, assisted by the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Department of Information and Tourism, co-worked with TAVAR  and Chiang Wei-Shui Cultural Foundation to reproduce the scenery of 1920's Taipei Dadaocheng district with VR, AR, and other latest 3D experience technologies. The project gives audiences an understanding of Dadaocheng history and reveals the record of the "Taiwan New Culture Movement" that was promoted by Mr. Chiang. It uses innovative technologies to fuse with historical humanistic materials in order to allow the audiences to approach and understand the contemporary background.

With urban renewal and commercial development, many historic buildings have been demolished or altered. Tourists can only visit the Dadaocheng’s and imagine the glory by word descriptions. And AR/VR or 3D experience technologies are one of the best solutions for this kind of problem. AR/VR has recently been widely used in various fields. When they are combined with hardware machines or devices, users can interact with the virtual time and space under a real-life atmosphere.

"Following the Path of Chiang, Wei-Shui" is a historical tour guide APP that Taipei City Government co-developed with a private organization and APP developer. Through AR to guide audiences to better understand the history of a great awakening moment. Meanwhile, the VR 360 panorama makes users experience the virtual Dadaocheng scene but feel it is real. Using technologies adds value to the city tour and cultural propaganda will help activate the local business. Let the world see that in addition to modernization, Taipei also has a side of wealthy human history and culture.
