SMARTCITY TAIPEI

Since 2016, the Taipei City Government has successfully facilitated numerous innovative trial projects through the "Taipei Smart City Industry Field Experiment PoC Program." By collaborating with private entities and municipal agencies, these trial projects have driven innovation and accelerated Taipei's transformation into a smart city. To encourage the efforts of participating businesses and research institutions in promoting innovative applications within the city, the government started organizing the "Taipei Smart City Innovation Award" in 2020. The aim is to select outstanding trial projects and recognize them with awards and incentives. To further encourage collaboration between businesses and research institutions, the annual "Taipei Smart City Innovation Award" will continue this year.

The "2021 Taipei Smart City Innovation Award" will begin its submission and evaluation process this year. The winning businesses or research institutions will be invited to participate in next year's showcase event, which will strengthen the promotion of annual trial project achievements and increase exposure opportunities. Through these efforts, the government aims to continue promoting the "Taipei Smart City Industry Field Experiment PoC Program" and expects even more innovative services and applications to emerge within Taipei in the future.

The registration period for this event is from the announcement date until December 15, 2021. Interested participants can follow the guidelines outlined in the "2021 Taipei Smart City Innovation Award Guidelines" to complete the registration form and submit the required documents via email to the organizing committee. The organizing committee will invite relevant experts in the field to serve as judging panel members. The evaluation process consists of two stages: the initial document review and the presentation review. During the initial document review, the judging panel will assess the submitted written materials and select 15 shortlisted projects. The shortlisted projects will then proceed to the presentation review, where the 15 participating teams will conduct physical presentations and answer questions from the judging panel. Based on the presentations, the panel will select 10 outstanding projects and 5 exceptional projects 

The results of the event are scheduled to be announced on the official website of the organizing committee in late March 2022. The 5 exceptional projects and 10 outstanding projects will receive awards and incentives. Additionally, these projects will be showcased at the 2022 Annual Achievements Exhibition, organized by the Taipei City Government Information Bureau in May 2022, with media coverage opportunities available in both print and electronic media. The "2021 Taipei Smart City Innovation Award" aims to encourage participating entities engaged in innovative trials with the Taipei City Government and enhance the promotion of smart city initiatives. The goal is to foster collaboration between the city government and industry-academia-research sectors to create a more livable and sustainable smart Taipei.
