SMARTCITY TAIPEI

Purpose:

(1) To assist participants in understanding the concept of a smart city and how to integrate their operations with smart city development in future policy planning.

(2) To help participants understand the collaboration mechanisms of current smart city-related policies within the government, enabling them to consider scenarios for inter-departmental cooperation in future policy formulation.

Course Content:

(1) International Smart City Trends and Case Studies: Inviting international think tanks Gartner and IDC to explain the definition of a smart city and its development trends, providing participants with a preliminary understanding of smart cities. Sharing international examples of smart city initiatives to offer participants a more practical insight into smart city implementation.

(2) Taipei City's Smart City Initiatives and Case Studies: TPMO colleagues will present Taipei City Government's mechanisms and processes for promoting smart city initiatives, showcasing inter-departmental collaboration cases within the government to help participants understand how to cooperate within the existing framework. Additionally, agencies will be invited to share their experiences of working with TPMO to promote various projects, enhancing colleagues' understanding of collaborative models within the government.

Speaker Profiles:

(1) CK Lu, Research Director at Gartner: Holds a Master's degree in Management from the University of Florida, with 15 years of industry experience, including roles as project manager at Motorola Asia and product manager at HTC. With 9 years at IDC, providing research and market advice for IT-related industries, specializing in smart devices, wearable technology, biometrics, smart homes, smart cities, and artificial intelligence. Promoted to Research Director at Gartner Taiwan in 2018.

(2) Tiffany Tsai, Senior Market Analyst at IDC: Holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from Johnson & Wales University, with over 10 years of experience in market research and the IT industry. Provides cross-product consulting services to enterprises in digital transformation, cloud services, IoT applications, storage software, and IT service management.

Expected Outcomes:

This event will be attended by directors and above from various agencies. During the session, Gartner's Research Director, CK Lu, and IDC's Senior Market Analyst, Tiffany Tsai, will share international smart city trends and case studies, providing a preliminary understanding of smart cities and a more practical grasp of smart city implementation through their presentations. TPMO will then introduce Taipei City's smart city initiatives and case studies, explaining the roles and responsibilities of agencies in the process to help colleagues quickly understand their collaborative tasks at each stage. Sharing inter-departmental case studies will encourage agencies to consider scenarios for cross-departmental cooperation in future policy formation. A total of 84 participants from 32 agencies and units will take part in this educational training.
