Taipei Smart City Industrial Field PoC Program Press Conference
In order to make Smart City and related Internet of Things technologies applied to Taipei city and make it become a Living Lab of Smart City, Taipei City Government held the press conference on launching “Taipei Smart City Industrial Field Empirical PoC Program” in the morning on May 24th , 2017 to declare that this was the first PoC program in Taiwan, hoping through the proposal submission, business matching, field test & evidence verification to integrate industry, government, academy, research, and other resources, improve city governance in policy-making and related service and then create an urban culture with innovative quality. The press conference also invited many smart city-related alliances such as Taiwan Smart City Industry Alliance, Taipei Chamber of Commerce, Taiwan Internet of Things Industry Technology Association, Taiwan Cloud Internet Industry Association, Taipei Computer Association, and other communications related fields representatives. " Taipei Smart City Industrial Field Empirical PoC Program" provides a better empirical environment and opportunity for the private sector to engage in the civil projects. The press conference will introduce the smart street light demonstration program to be conducted in Neihu District, which shows the smart street light and related intelligence application services, including the provision of traffic monitoring, parking information display and electronic fence and other functional experiences. In addition, in the second half of the year, the unmanned bus will be tested in the Xinyi District, both examples showcase the strong commitment of Taipei City Government in its smart city development. The executive unit of this PoC project is Taipei Smart City PMO. Since its establishment in February 2016, Taipei Smart City PMO has helped the Department of Urban Development in smart public housing, smart service of Taipei Main Station and other departments of the government. For example, the air boxes built in elementary schools campus of the city now has been adopted in South Korea and began to manufacture in large-scale; the LoRa Internet of Things experiment platform is not only continuing its R&D application, the manufacturers also set up the production equipment of Internet of Things in other cities and counties and have successfully exported to China, all the developments make Taipei a model of smart city. "Taipei Smart City Industrial Field Empirical PoC Program" is executed based on innovation, feasibility, public welfare and law compliance of the proposal.
