SMARTCITY TAIPEI

To encourage participation in PoC projects, the Taipei City Government has been conducting the "Smart Taipei Innovation Awards" annually, selecting outstanding PoC projects that demonstrate innovation. The 2021 event was open for submissions from November 4th to December 31st of the same year, and we are grateful for the enthusiastic response from various sectors. After the first-round written review, the list of finalists has been revealed, and we congratulate the selected projects for advancing to the next round of evaluation.

Since 2016, the Taipei City Government has successfully facilitated numerous innovative PoC projects under the "Taipei Smart City Industry Field Experimentation Project," fostering collaborations between private enterprises and government agencies to drive innovation and accelerate Taipei City's development into a smart city. To encourage and acknowledge the efforts of participating companies and research institutions in developing innovative applications for Taipei, the Taipei City Government has been organizing the "Smart Taipei Innovation Awards" since 2020, aiming to select outstanding PoC projects and provide recognition and rewards.

The "2021 Smart Taipei Innovation Awards" invited teams that collaborated with various government agencies throughout the year to submit their projects for consideration. In addition to receiving awards, the winning teams are eligible for cash rewards ranging from NT$70,000 to NT$150,000, as well as marketing exposure opportunities. After the submission deadline on December 31, 2021, the projects underwent initial review and were shortlisted to 11 finalists by an expert panel composed of internal and external evaluators. The list of finalists is detailed in the attached information. The Taiwan Smart City Project Management Office (TPMO) will notify the shortlisted teams of the subsequent evaluation process. The final list of winning projects is expected to be announced on the TPMO official website at the end of March 2022. The awarded projects will be showcased at the annual event organized by the Taipei City Government's Information Bureau in May 2022, and industry professionals and citizens are welcome to join the celebration.

Through the "Smart Taipei Innovation Awards," the Taipei City Government encourages participation from various units in the innovative verification of municipal policies, aiming to attract more cooperation from industries, academia, and research sectors. We hope to work together with creative and visionary businesses and startups to build a more livable and sustainable smart Taipei.
