Taipei City, Keelung, Taoyuan, and Hsinchu together promote a shared transport system of 3U capital city life circle
Taipei City Government promotes “sharing, green energy, and e-city” as the core of governance planning and actively introduced the recent “3U” plan, which combines YouBike, U-Motor, and U-Car services, to provide citizens more convenient transportation solution. It reduces the holdings of private vehicles as well as decreases serious traffic and pollution problems. In the meantime, it encourages the development of related industry and accelerates the development of smart city. Department of Information Technology, Taipei City Government and TPMO successfully matched WeMo Scooter, Yulon , Gaius, Hotai Leasing, and Lexus to co-develop the 3U plan. In Feb. 23rd, 2017, Keelung, Taoyuan and Hsinchu cities jointly supported the 3U green energy transportation circle and all heads of representatives participated a public event. The event showcases 3U vehicles and allowed guests experience them as a supporting action to the smart green energy and shared transport trend. Hopefully, the force that combines Keelung, Taoyuan and Hsinchu cities and private companies will build a 3U capital life circle. The Deputy Mayor of Taipei City Government, Charles Lin, said in the press conference; Taipei city is building the 3U capital life circle. At present, the YouBike, and U-Motor are already operated by private companies. In the future, there will be charging pillars constructed in Taipei public parking and public housing construction for the public use. And companies will be encouraged to invest resources to provide U-Car electric car sharing service. After the event, guests and company representatives were invited to experience WeMo. The central government has extended electric car avoiding goods tax to 2021 to encourage people to use electric vehicles. Taipei City will also respond to this policy. Before the number of electric vehicle registration reaches 1,000, electric car parks in public spaces will only be charged parking fee. The city government subsidizes electricity to encourage everyone to use electric car. Besides, Taipei city has built 300 pubic YouBike stations, providing 9,838 YouBikes for people to use. Until the end of 2017, there will be 400 stations, 13,000 YouBikes, being more convenient in use. WeMo Scooter presented electric motorcycle sharing service in October, 2016. Taipei city hopes to provide similar places to encourage the private sector to launch electric car sharing service. Taking into account the needs of the public transport, Taipei city will exchange the idea of expanding the 3U capital life circle with Keelung, Taoyuan, Hsinchu and other neighboring cities to move towards sharing, green energy, and e-city!
