National Chengchi University Course Achievements - Smart Street Light
Taipei Smart City Project Management Office (TPMO) and the Department of Public Administration of Chengchi University have collaborated to study and analyze and discuss one of the city's ongoing smart city proof-of-concepts (PoC), the smart streetlight project which Let TPMO and the city government eyes shine.
Smart street light is a good helper for energy saving, labor saving and traffic control. In addition, different intelligent applications are promoted to make the popular street light network a powerful IoT platform, suitable as a carrier for various sensors, and can be used for many purposes.
The students of Chengchi University made further inferences about the focus of improvement on the trial of smart street lights: “low public reach” and “features that did not respond to the needs of the people”, and surveyed the people in Taipei with a questionnaire survey found that only 30% citizens know this project, thus how to promote smart street lights through good channels will be one of the important topics. At the same time, according to the investigation of the currently available functions of smart street lights, the top five are: automatic brightness adjustment (86.6%), traffic flow monitoring (76.3%), and pedestrian flow monitoring (66.0%), electronic billboards (58.8%), and license plate recognition (57.7%). It can be seen one of the functions most people concerned about is the energy consumption of street lights for a long time. In the future, if the government intends to continue to implement it, it can follow it and turn it into a reference for formulating policy guidelines and implementation.
