2019 Global City Team Challenge Program
The Global City Team Challenge Program (GCTC) Expo was held by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) of the U.S. Department of Commerce, and was held in Washington, U.S.A. on July 11th and 12th. For the first time since 2016, Taipei City Government has been invited to participate three times. This year, hosted by the Development Center of the Asia Silicon Valley Program, the Taipei City, Taoyuan City, and Tainan City led a delegation to form "Team Taiwan." Department of Information Technology led Taipei Smart City Project Management Office and the new entrepreneur BiiLabs to participate in the exhibition.
Taipei City Government gave a speech in the sub-forum under the theme of "Taipei Smart City Platform" and "GO SMART" this year, sharing that since 2016, Taipei Smart City Project Management Office has been established to form a communication bridge between the government and industry, and jointly promote smart city, accumulating fruitful results in the past three years and extend this concept to international. In addition, the GO SMART communication platform consisting of cities and industries is also expected to share the challenges and experiences encountered in the process of building a smart city through the Inter-City PoC program, and develop Smart city of global economy.
During the exhibition opinion exchanged between many participants and successfully linked the US government and industry elites, such as officials of the United States Department of Commerce and the mayor of San Angelo, California, the information chief of Washington, D.C., and the mayor of Cauayan, the Philippines. The mutual exchange of international cities will expand Taipei's smart city mechanism and its achievements internationally.
