In order to promote and link academic and research strengths to help promote smart cities and implement the spirit of civic participation, Taipei Smart City Project  Management Office travels to campuses to introduce the current status and achievements of Taipei's promotion of smart cities, and interacts and communicates deeply with teachers and students during the course. For example, students from Kaohsiung National Sun Yat-Sen University visited Taipei for an internship, and discussed the advantages and disadvantages of each project when they contacted smart city related topics brainstormed and stimulated more ideas and possibilities which are both valuable exchanged feedbacks. Guests from other countries came to learn from the experience, such as the visiting office of the University of Potsdam of Germany, Cheng, Hsin-yi, a special committee member of Department of Technology, came to the scene to explain the operation mechanism of the smart city to learn from the experiences of each other and come up with more possible solutions, successfully connecting foreign academic and research forces to lay a stronger foundation for the promotion of smart cities.

Taipei Smart City Summit & Expo (SCSE) has become an international landmark exhibition. The sixth edition of this year will be held in Nangang Exhibition Hall 1 for 4 days starting from March 26. The theme of this year's exhibition is "Smart Internet of Things Leads Smart City Re-Upgrading". The integrated application of AI and IoT can promote the city to upgrade to Smart City 2.0 with 4 subsidiary brand exhibition : the Smart Medical Exhibition, Smart Education Exhibition, Smart Building Exhibition and Smart Transportation Exhibition; more than 66 professional forums are held during the exhibition period, which is expected to promote more international cooperation and allow more than 2,000 overseas visitors from 42 countries and regions, including 276 city delegation led by 128 city leaders and representatives delegation went together for the grand celebration.

The information technology month event is the largest information technology exhibition in Taiwan. This year (2018) will debut in the World Trade Center Hall 1 from November 28. The Vice Mayor of the Taipei Municipal Government, LIN,CHIN-JUNG, attended the press conference of second anniversary of WeMo Scooter's operation today (24th). He and the Umotor partner, the CEO of WeMo Scooter, WU, HSIN-PEI, rode on electric motors to debut, in addition to celebrating the 2nd anniversary of the outstanding operation, they also announced they will sign a memorandum of cooperation to provide exclusive electric motor rental discounts for city employees, who will become leaders of green transportation that invite the citizens to "ride" to respond to create a green environment of convenient transportation.

The 5th PIXNET HACKATHON Competition was held at the National Taiwan University Sports Center on 8/18 and 8/19. Department of Information Technology and the Taipei Smart City Project Management Office for the first time jointly held the 5th PIXNET HACKATHON competition with the point of "creating a smart life circle," focusing on the IoT voice situation application and artificial intelligence image recognition technology, and cooperates with Department of Transportation of Taipei City and New Taipei City to share and provide information such as bus routes and traffic flow, historical data on traffic and speed. A press conference was hosted on December 7th at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, Building A8, North Gate, with a test ride activity.
