 “2023 Solicitation for Taipei 1+7 Smart Fields” has kicked-off! Under the concept of “Problem Setting by the Government, Problem Solving by the Industry”, the   Taipei City Government has sought innovative solutions from various sectors. Starting from January 3 to February 17, the solicitation includes 12 demands by 6 smart fields and 2 topics regarding “net-zero emissions” by Smart Building and Smart Environment. To realize the vision of a net-zero, livable, and sustainable society, TPMO welcomes innovations from every sector to continuously upgrade this Taipei Smart City.

According to the development of digital technology and the change in citizens’ lifestyles, Taipei city government released Metaverse Taipei in August 2022. Metaverse Taipei reveals that Taipei city government will use “Municipal Administration” and “Cultural Tourism” to deploy construction in the next 5 years. On the 22nd of November, Taipei city government held an employee training conference called "The lesson of smart city development: the developing roadmap of city metaverse". Taipei city government invited the industry and research corporations to introduce the points of Metaverse Taipei, including the concepts, trends, and new claims and international cases of Metaverse Taipei to government employees.

2023 GO SMART Award, organized by Global Organization of Smart Cities (GO SMART) – a Taipei City Government’s initiative, is entering into its 5th year and now accepting applications from global participants. Due to the strong requests from a lot of potential applicants, GO SMART Secretariat decides to extend the GO SMART Award 2023 application from Oct. 31 to Nov 6. There are 11 firms participating this 2022 solicitation, in which 6 of them, passing the review, will start the detailed planning and the trial contract signing in the coming days and then move into the project construction or installation and the empirical study & review.  We hope there will be more innovative applications realized in the Capital City, creating the win-win between government and private sector.

In response to the 5G development trends, the Taipei City Government has actively engaged in dialogues with the central government, industry operators, universities and research institutes in recent years. On May 10, 2021, the 2021 Smart City Trends and 5G Private Network Public Sector Applications Seminar was held to invite external experts and civil servants from the City Government to discuss how to construct an environment and innovative scenarios beneficial to 5G development to realize the concept of 5G smart cities and daily lives.

Department of Information Technology, Taipei City Government held the "Taipei Smart City Achievement Exchange Conference" on March 19 to show the achievements of the Beishi government’s 109-year smart city 1+7 Key Directions promotion and civic participation curriculum cooperation, and simultaneously awarded the "2020 Smart Taipei Innovation Award", Mayor Ke served as the award-presenter to encourage the award-winning manufacturers. In addition, Secretary-General Chen served as the opinion exchange event and talker, hoping to gather industry-university and government resources through exchanges, and use more smart solutions to solve the needs of the public in the future.

In order to promote the government's data openness policy, to enhance the data governance capabilities of city government colleagues and encourage students to participate in open data value-added applications, the Taipei City Government organized the "2021 Taipei City Government Data Application Hackathon" online selection on March 7. The final team from the city government and the student group participated. After six hours of fierce online selection, the "Director's Champion" and "MUST PARK" won the first prize in the city group and student group respectively.
