Project
To realize the idea of developing a smart city, Taipei City government founded the Smart City Committee in 2015. Furthermore, the government established the Taipei Smart City Project Management Office to realize the vision of Taipei Smart City in 2016.

This PoC project is a collaboration between Inventec Corporation and Taipei Performing Arts Center, holding the VR (virtual reality) experience activity in the center which is introduced with a 5G network for conducting trials. Through simple structure and convenient construction design, the performers operate the tablet PC to make orders by using a 5G signal connection, so as to experience the VR digital content of transmission without latency.

This PoC project is a collaboration between the Traffic Engineering Office of Taipei City Government and Asia Pacific Telecom Co., which plans to install cameras and AI servers at the intersection of testing fields, in order to analyze the identification and records of car models, traffic flow trajectory, and relevant coordinates. This will establish the indicators of traffic conflict incidents, including: conflicts and level of accidents, in order to calculate the technological results from the development of automatic road traffic safety diagnosis. The competent authorities will use such data as a reference for making decisions on the improvement plans, upgrading the effectiveness of accident prevention and reducing the number of road conflicts occurring at the accident-prone road segments. Meanwhile, the instant analysis of image transmission also reduces the number of surveys conducted by personnel at the sites.

The Dept. of Environmental Protection,Taipei City Government collaborates with UnaBiz on this PoC project to run the smart management solution for the trash bins on sidewalks. The usage condition of the trash bin is detected by the sensors and analyzed to predict the peak hours as well as the hotspot site for the trash bin in high usage. It is expected that this trial of optimizing the existing cleaning and removal by the cleaning team will provide convenience for the public in discarding waste, maintaining the environment clean, and implementing net-zero carbon emissions.

In order to enhance digital services for the public, the Taipei City Government has introduced more municipal services and event information into the TaipeiPASS APP in the past two years, enabling people to access relevant information through the APP. However, when a large number of people flock to the APP at the same time, it is easy to induce the system crash or abnormal connections. Therefore, the Department of Information Technology cooperates with Master Concept to introduce a "virtual queuing system" in the TaipeiPASS APP. When a large number of people use the APP at the same time exceeding the capacity of the website, they will first be automatically directed to the "virtual queuing system" and then be redirected back to the website or APP in an open, transparent, and first-come-first-served manner, preventing system delays by optimizing the efficiency of traffic control.

In cooperation with Acer Inc. , the IoT devices are deployed in the raft foundation of buildings to establish flood detention facilities in this PoC project. These devices are equipped with management functions that can simultaneously monitor and regulate rainwater flow. In addition, the management platform built by Acer can display information, including weather forecasts, real-time rainfall totals, and flood stages in flood-prone areas. It can also improve the flood detention efficiency of the raft foundations and resolve climate-induced water shortage or flooding in real-time, achieving smart flood control.

This PoC project collaborates with VisionSoft Inc. to provide smart parking spaces with AI license plate recognition technology in fence-free parking lots. This PoC project also incorporated charging hardware that meets with the standards of the Industrial Development Bureau, MOEA, and integrated payment services so that citizens can pay their parking and charging fees at once at payment machines after parking/charging.

This project is a collaboration between the Department of Information Technology and FANinsights, which consolidates information, analyzes data and uses peripheral tools (such as chatbots) to reinforce the interactivity of websites. Through adopting the AI technology to link websites, and conducting monitoring to generate statistics and reports, it help to identify the pages that need to be updated and keywords that should be verified. The implementation reduces internal manual operations and improves efficiency, further achieving the goal of strengthening website administration.

This project is a collaboration between the Department of Environmental Protection and Cloudmatrix. The use of image processing and AI establishes a garbage disposal identification system to capture the images of drivers suspected of or clearly violating the garbage disposal rules, so the Department of Environmental Protection will be able to issue warnings and reports later on.

This project is a collaboration between the Hydraulic Engineering Office and Acer Being Communication. It checks the placement of cable junction boxes and incorporates GPS and water level sensors to further examine whether sewers are blocked, and transmits the relevant positions, water level data and results back through the existing cable lines, achieving the goals of controlling the positions of junction boxes and lowering the cost of pipeline layout.
