Encourage U-Motor Sharing, New Choice of Public Transportation in Taipei City

Taipei Smart City Project Management Office(TPMO) successfully match-made Taipei City Government and a domestic startup, “WeMo Scooter,” to work together and promote a U-Motor rental service. A press conference was hosted on December 7th at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi, Building A8, North Gate, with a test ride activity. The Vice-mayor, Lin, Qin-Rong, joined the activity and enthusiastically tried out the app operation for riding the U-Motor, adding many interactions with participants.

Mr. Lin mentioned that the city government is now actively working on providing intelligent traffic solutions. The “3U” plan is one of all. From the well-known U-Bike to U-Motor and U-Car, the city government want to provide more convenient transportation tools. The most important outcome of this plan is decreasing the number of private-owned vehicles, encouraging the use of green-energy transportation, and reducing traffic jam and pollution. At the same time, a relative industry will also be promoted and innovated. WeMo Scooter’s innovative service has a same goal as that of the government’s policy. An environment-protected electric vehicle sharing service, adding app & cloud technologies, provides convenient service process. It is very suitable for the high-density population of Taipei city and can be another choice for transport.

The city government encourages the development of new enterprises in Taipei City. The government expects more innovative technologies and business models can provide high-quality services for citizens. WeMo’s success on the U-Motor project can be a good model for more innovative service providers in the future. Taipei City Government and the TPMO will continue to work with Innovative service providers for increasing people’s happiness and life experience. The goal is reducing urban pollution or inconvenience so that we can have a better, convenient and intelligent city life.
