Smart Taipei Innovation Award
The city of Taipei envisions "livable sustainability with smart cities as the driving force" in its pursuit of smart urban development. To effectively implement relevant policies, the Taipei Smart City Project Office (TPMO) was established in 2016. Adopting the concept of a "Living Lab," public spaces were opened for private enterprises to conduct service verification. This allowed the introduction of industry creativity and resources, and enabled the application of smart technology solutions. Through collaborative efforts between the government and private entities, smart city Proof of Concept (PoC) projects were executed, giving rise to "Smart Taipei."
Following the "Taipei Smart City Industry Field Experiment and PoC Program," many concept verifications have been successfully completed over the years. To encourage active participation from businesses, the annual "Smart Taipei Innovation Award" was initiated in 2020. It aims to select outstanding PoC projects each year and recognize them with awards to demonstrate city government’s encouragement. Additionally, through organizing showcase events, the TPMO strengthens publicity efforts, allowing more industry players and the general public to understand the verification process and contributions of these exceptional projects.
