Nangang District Smart City Promotion Citizen Symposium

TPMO hosted “Nangang District Smart City Promotion Citizen Symposium” on July 23rd, 2016 in Nangang Sanchong Community Activity Center, and invited residents of Nangang district to understand subjects about smart city. TPMO researchers introduced the concept of smart city and shared domestic and foreign smart city cases. Meanwhile, the forum also focused on Nangang area experimental research outcomes and plans so that the participants had a chance to discuss and give opinions. According to the field survey, TPMO sorted out three important needs in Nangang district; “security”, “national care for elderly and disabled persons”, and “ecological protection”. At the event day, TPMO passed out feedback cards to participants so to collect their ideas about these three needs. About the “security” part, some thought that areas like Nangang Software Park surrounding areas has less people flow and easy to have crimes occur. About the “national care for elderly and disabled persons” issue, they affirmed the need for home-based smart care because they were concerned about the problem of elderly people living alone. And as the Nangang District has a unique ecological environment, the public was very concerned about the issues related to ecological protection. Among all, the water quality protection of Si-Fen Creek is the most considerable subject. Therefore, citizens held a positive attitude regarding to the TPMO’s proposal of the use of intelligent technology to assist water quality monitoring.
